Have a Jollibee KitKat Mix-ins Today! #JollyBreak

When my friends and I went to Cebu City earlier this month, we chance upon the latest Jollibee Mix-ins. It was the first time I saw it so I asked my companions if we could try it before we head out to our itinerary which is to visit the Cebu Taoist Temple. They agreed and we lined up at the nearest Jollibee at Ayala Center Cebu.

Much to our delight, it tasted so good! Why? Because the latest Jollibee Mix-ins is made from crushed KitKat blended with caramel syrup in vanilla soft served ice cream!! It was awesomely delicious!! To be honest, I am a fan of Jollibee Mix-ins and I have several favorites since it was launched. So far, this is my second favorite next to the Jollibee Milo Mix-ins and Jollibee Pretzels Mix-ins comes third.

Anyway, if you feel stressed lately, then Jollibee KitKat Mix-ins will surely relieve you! The sweet and delectable flavor is more than enough to tickle your sweet tooth and relax you from the stress that may have surrounded you all day. So, if you’re thinking of taking a break from work or school with your friends, try visiting the nearest Jollibee branch near you. Jollibee Mix-ins with KitKat is priced at 38 pesos only.

Seafood Island

Praised be to God! Last Saturday, I was informed that I passed the teacher’s board exams. I was very happy because God answered my prayers. So as a treat, my father said that we will have a dinner at the mall. We were supposed to go the usual eat-all-you-can restaurant but I decided that he should try out the seafood restaurant at Centrio Mall. He agreed.

Dinner came and we found ourselves waiting for our orders at Seafood Island. We ordered Dagupan Boodle Feast good for 5-6 persons, Kinilaw na Tuna, Tuna and Crabmeat Sisig, a glass of iced lemon tea and a pitcher of fruit juice. All-in-all my dad paid around 1,904.57 pesos less his senior citizen discount.

[deep friend boneless bangus, pork bbq, steamed white shrimps,
grilled tahong (this was not served), grilled talong, okra,
talbos na kamote, green mango, crispy liempo, bagoong rice]

Kinilaw na Tuna

To be honest, last Saturday was just my third time eating at Seafood Island. As much as I love seafood, I am not amicable to how their food taste. The presentation is great but most of their foods are so bland or too salty. Good thing the Kinilaw na Tuna tasted OK. I almost ate them all. And I remembered that there was time that we can still eat the rock salt in their rice (from my second visit).

Anyway, you might wonder why I went back their again if I don’t like their food? Well, I always thought that there is room for improvement; I was expecting that I will be surprised on how good their food is now but unfortunately, after we ate, they gain another thumbs down. My dad felt the same thing too towards their food. He said the same thing - bland or too salty.

The question is, will I eat their again? Well, the answer is yes. But not soon, maybe after a few months time as I am still hoping that the management will find a way to change how their food will taste. I love seafood! So if they improve, they will gain a loyal customer in me!

Kinilaw

I think most of my friends know that my favorite food is KINILAW. I love this dish ever since I tasted it. The raw fish soaked in pure “suka” (vinegar) mixed with spices really suits my taste. I have been eating this since I was in elementary school and up until now.

Kinilaw na Tangigue (Spanish Mackerel)

Traditionally, if you eat kinilaw, you drink cola after eating it. This done to prevent you from having an upset stomach but because I am already immune to this raw fish, I can drink water after eating it. But sometimes, I still prefer drinking cola since it really seals in the flavors and thus making you eat more.

Kinilaw na Tamban (Sardinella)

To know how to make this dish, check out the ingredients and procedure below courtesy of Jacky Abitago.

Ingredients:
- 1 kilo tuna
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 1 medium onion
- 1 medium cucumber
- Pinch of salt
- 1 medium ginger
- 5 pieces lemon
- 2 pieces hot chili
- 2 medium tomatoes
- 1 tabon-tabon (for Kagay-anons like me, we add this one).

Procedure:
1. First, you have to clean the fish and cut it into cubes
2. Put it into the bowl
3. Pour the vinegar
4. Cut the lemon in half and squeeze it.
5 Put the sliced onion, sliced tomatoes, ginger, cucumber and salt to taste in the bowl together with the fish
6 Leave it out for one hour in the refrigerator before you serve

How about you guys? Do you eat kinilaw? Can you share to us your favorite food?

Shrimp Tinola

While I was browsing with my Instagram Account, I came across one of my posts that I have uploaded last January 2014. It was a shrimp tinola cooked by my father. Seeing the picture really made my mouth water again. I am a sucker for seafood dishes. I am so glad that I wasn't born with seafood allergies.

Anyway, here is the photo that I talked about…

Doesn't the shrimp tinola look delicious?! How about you? Do you like seafood dishes too? What particular seafood dish do you like? So far, I like all kinds of seafood dishes! I just love eating seafood dishes!

Jasmine Pension House

Earlier this month, I went to Cebu City with my eldest daughter and two other friends from our blogging community. We went there with the intention to attend a boot camp on virtual assistance. But since we are already in Cebu City – the Queen City of the South – we decided to spend our time visiting the tourist attractions within with our spare two days (thanks to the cancelled trip back home).

Anyway, after our boot camp in Mandaue City, we went straight back to Cebu City to book a place to stay. Before coming to Cebu City, we were decided to stay at Cebu Century Hotel but since some of the participants advised us not to check in there during the night, we were reluctant to go ahead with our plan and decided to go to Travebee Capitol Inn. Unfortunately, the room we wanted were occupied so we decided to look for another place to stay. After walking and checking out the hotels and pension inns nearby, we landed in Jasmine Pension House.

Jasmine Pension House is located at Gil Garcia Street corner Maria Cristina Street, Cebu City, Philippines and the rates are very affordable. We got ourselves a Deluxe Room with two single beds and one double bed. Though it has a lot of beds inside the room, we paid for two extra beds since the room was priced at 810 pesos good for two people only with free coffee and bread in the morning. We paid 225 pesos for each extra person. We totaled 1260 pesos a night. Since we are four in total, I paid 1260 for two nights including my daughter - a good deal right!

The room was clean. It was a nice place to rest. It doesn't have a hot and cold shower but the water was perfect. The bath room was kinda small though.

The location of Jasmine Pension House is conveniently located near food shops and the mall. You can just walk around a bit to reach Larsians sa Fuente, Robinson’s Cybergate Cebu and among others. So if you need an affordable place to stay in Cebu City together with friends or your family, Jasmine Pension House would be a great choice for you!

Eats Good to Wander

It’s been a long time since I created a new blog and specifically on a blogger.com platform. When I thought my domain buying days were over, I immediately felt the urge to buy a new one. I wanted to have a food blog. Though I have several food blogs before, none of them are online right now. All the domains expired. Not that I carelessly forgot to renew them but I purposely let them go because I felt that the domain names were not that relevant anymore.

Anyway, so we are now here, in my newest baby – Eats Good to Wander (It’s Good to Wander). I intentionally omitted “it’s” to give way to “eats” because this blog is a personal blog that is geared to document my food adventures as well as my local (and international) travels. I say personal because my documentation of my own adventures is not to be taken as an “expert” food critic but from a person who really loves food and want to try more.

To my friends and soon to be new friends, welcome to my food slash travel blog!! Hope to see you in my future food and travel adventures!!
