Golden Ajirang-i Korean Restaurant

Both my friend and I are Korean Drama fans, so we are always tempted to try all the Korean dishes that were featured on the dramas we watched. So last March 2014, my friend and I went to Golden Ajirang-i Korean Restaurant for dinner. It was my friend’s second time while it was my first time.

As expected, Golden Ajirang-i Korean Restaurant is filled with Koreans who are enjoying dishes from their home country. It was also noticeable that the tables are designed to accommodate Korean way of dining. The tables have covered holes designed for cooking stoves. It was designed that way so you can cook your food at your table depending on the dish you are going to order. As for us, we ordered Yukejang (Spicy Beef Soup) for me while my friend ordered Denjang Chigae (Bean Paste Soup). So we don’t need to cook on our table.

While waiting for our orders, the waitress placed five (5) side dishes on our table and one of them is kimchi (a traditional fermented Korean side dish made of vegetables with a variety of seasonings).  Even it was my first time eating in a Korean restaurant, I have been eating kimchi for many years now. I buy them in our local grocery stores. I like eating kimchi with variety of Filipino dishes.

So when our orders arrived, I noticed that the aroma of Denjang Chigae was so strong. I can taste the bean paste already just by smelling it. I tasted it too and it was delicious and so as the soup I ordered.

Denjang Chigae

As for my Yukejang, since I can eat spicy dishes well, my soup’s spiciness was tolerable. It wasn't too spicy but still you can taste it spiciness.

Yukejang

Since I haven’t eaten any Korean dishes before, all I can say is that the food was delicious and new to my taste. And if you ask me if I wanna go back again, well, I am already planning to do so. I want to try the other Korean dishes soon!

Golden Ajirang-i Korean Restaurant is located at CM Recto Avenue, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. Restaurant are open from Monday to Sunday at 11:00am to 3:00pm and 5:30pm to 10:00pm. You can also call them at (088)856-5271.

Have a Jollibee KitKat Mix-ins Today! #JollyBreak

When my friends and I went to Cebu City earlier this month, we chance upon the latest Jollibee Mix-ins. It was the first time I saw it so I asked my companions if we could try it before we head out to our itinerary which is to visit the Cebu Taoist Temple. They agreed and we lined up at the nearest Jollibee at Ayala Center Cebu.

Much to our delight, it tasted so good! Why? Because the latest Jollibee Mix-ins is made from crushed KitKat blended with caramel syrup in vanilla soft served ice cream!! It was awesomely delicious!! To be honest, I am a fan of Jollibee Mix-ins and I have several favorites since it was launched. Seafood Island

Praised be to God! Last Saturday, I was informed that I passed the teacher’s board exams. I was very happy because God answered my prayers. So as a treat, my father said that we will have a dinner at the mall. We were supposed to go the usual eat-all-you-can restaurant but I decided that he should try out the seafood restaurant at Centrio Mall. He agreed.

Dinner came and we found ourselves waiting for our orders at Seafood Island. We ordered Dagupan Boodle Feast good for 5-6 persons, Kinilaw na Tuna, Tuna and Crabmeat Sisig, a glass of iced lemon tea and a pitcher of fruit juice. All-in-all my dad paid around 1,904.57 pesos less his senior citizen discount.

Kinilaw na Tuna

To be honest, last Saturday was just my third time eating at Seafood Island. As much as I love seafood, I am not amicable to how their food taste. The presentation is great but most of their foods are so bland or too salty. Good thing the Kinilaw na Tuna tasted OK. I almost ate them all. And I remembered that there was time that we can still eat the rock salt in their rice (from my second visit).

Anyway, you might wonder why I went back their again if I don’t like their food? Well, I always thought that there is room for improvement; I was expecting that I will be surprised on how good their food is now but unfortunately, after we ate, they gain another thumbs down. My dad felt the same thing too towards their food. He said the same thing - bland or too salty.

The question is, will I eat their again? Well, the answer is yes. But not soon, maybe after a few months time as I am still hoping that the management will find a way to change how their food will taste. I love seafood! So if they improve, they will gain a loyal customer in me!
